Green FIRPLAK!

FIRPLAK environmental commitment started as a research project in 1999, to reduce the volume of our wastes, as the “landfill” of our cities was collapsing, due to poor planning and no longer tolerate more voluminous and highly waste not biodegradable. According to research this waste takes over 5000 years to degrade.

In this project participated Pontificia Bolivariana University and SENA and the final result was a system of grinding and classification of waste, which is transformed in the FIRPLAK Environmental Plant, completely dedicated to the recover of our industrial waste, to make them into new and creative products.

The plant currently employs 12 people and is fully dedicated to the manufacture of products such as our pre-leveled support bases for bathtubs and hydro-massage bathtubs, as well as our new brand-friendly environment:

Kitchen and bath products for Social Interest Housing (Countertops with integrated kitchen sink, laundry sink, mop sink and shower bases),

Reflective road projection, ECOVIAL brand

Is a complete family of products for road marking (tire stops, road dividers, speed bumps and road projections).

In 2002 we also accepted an invitation from the BID (Interamerican Development Bank) to participate in the program GAP (environmental management productivity). The results of this program were vital to further enhance our recycling culture, to the point that today our company recycles a high percentage of indirect waste materials such us paper, glass, cardboard and plastic as well as our packaging materials and water used for testing of our whirlpools.

As a result of our environmental Project we have been highlighted by the American CM Magazine, the Reinforced Plastics European Magazine, the BID, the award for best practices of integrated management the Chamber of Commerce and the “Order of the Recycler” given by the Housing and Environment Ministry of Colombia.
